Our Mission

The Potter's Clay is a home for women and children in crisis. Our phone rings 24 hours a day, seven days a week with calls from women who have no place to turn. Most of the women who come to us have been abused or have out-of-control addictions to drugs or alcohol. Many are homeless and have been rejected by their family and friends because of their problems.

The women who come to The Potter’s Clay need hands-on ministry and a safe place to heal so they can make definite changes in their lives.  Our goal is to assist them in developing the skills and character needed for successful living while also meeting their short-term needs including shelter, food and clothing.

Our facilities meet the basic needs of 30-40 women and children at a time.  These needs are met in a loving and caring Christian environment.  Last year we provided over 11,000 shelter nights.  The Potter’s Clay is staffed 24 hours a day.  Someone is always available to help with:

  • individual counseling
  • finding housing or employment
  • getting Medicaid and food stamps when appropriate
  • medical help through hospitals and the Charitable Christian Medical Clinic
  • volunteer attorneys and psychologists
  • transportation for personal errands, medical visits and job interviews

We also help plan for their future through counseling and Christ-centered classes taught by volunteers, including:

  • GED classes taught by a retired educator
  • Celebrate Recovery, a Christian 12-step program for addictions
  • a class based on Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life, taught by a retired minister
  • STARS - recovery from trauma taught by STARS facilitator
  • overcoming abuse taught by a psychologist
  • parenting class to develop skills for effective parenting
  • life skills taught by an attorney

Most important to us is the change in their lives! All of our teachings are Scripturally based, and we delight in having a part in their spiritual growth as they receive Christ as the answer for their success in life.
